Everyone needs waterproof flooring, no matter where they live. We all create plenty of moisture in our homes, cooking, steam showers, leaky air conditioning units, etc.
But what exactly is it, and what's the best way to buy it? What should I look for?
Luxury vinyl, engineered
These floors are even thicker and more durable. They're even graded for commercial use!
They are also constructed with a technologically advanced core.
The high-end style is the same as traditional luxury vinyl, though. Beautiful wood and stone designs are often referred to as waterproof vinyl flooring. Some examples are Adura Flex Plank by Mannington or Legacy White With Gray (a marble-look) Flex Tile by Mannington.
These cores won’t peel or ripple ever
WPC (wood plastic composite) and SPC (stone plastic composite) cores offer the highest level of moisture protection. It doesn't matter how much water or long it's been there.
Cores are crucial because they provide stability and determine the level of moisture protection.
Now, know the difference between waterproof and water-resistant
A waterproof flooring means the floor is impervious. Therefore, it can be submerged or spilled on without damage.
Water-resistant means it will repel for a while but must be wiped immediately. Otherwise, it soaks the core, stains, and ripples.
